Over 20 years ago, when I was running a vintage shop,

I stumbled into a hemp store in San Francisco during a buying trip.
I still remember how amazed I was by how cool that shop felt.

“I want to make cool clothes for women using hemp!”

That spark of passion has stayed with me for more than 20 years —
and even I’m surprised it never faded.

Hemp is a perennial plant from the cannabis family,
and it has been part of Japanese life for over 10,000 years,
dating back to the Jomon period.
It’s still used today in sacred Shinto ropes and garments,
and is considered a special, even sacred, plant in Japan.
